From the FDOT.
"The project contractor has been active at both locations doing underground work. In the attached photos, you can see that sections of the existing curb and asphalt have been removed; what isn’t visible is that the refilled areas were excavated to a depth of 4 to 10 feet. While these areas have been temporarily backfilled for safety and appearance purposes, the material is not sufficient to safely support traffic in the outside lane.
Drilled shafts are scheduled to be installed this week, which will add an additional hazard to this work area. Once the shafts are adequately cured, curb and drainage will be constructed, at which point the hazards will be protected and the outside lane can be safely reopened. Typically, this process can take up to a month and a half. However, the contractor is working within an expedited schedule to reduce that timeframe for reopening the lane.
I apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced during construction and look forward to delivering these safety improvements for the community."
