The original Jacksonville Beaches Heros of World War II Memorial was located at the N.E. corner of Beach Blvd. and 2nd Street. It was a place of remembrance for decades. However towared it's end the city neglected the memorial it became overgrown and unrecognizable. Then one day it was completely razed, memorial plaques and stones were destroyed and removed including the war mothers tree that was planted there. It was such a disgraceful ent to a historic and meaningful space. The city claims they have no info on why it was destroyed, They also claim to not know where the missing plaques and stones went. It was a sad day.
