From the City Of Jacksonville Beach Police Chief:
"All,
Merry Christmas, and I hope you have a Happy New Year. We remained busy in December.
The fifth and final group of officers completed their seven-day rotation to Sanibel Island. The deployment by other departments will continue for the next few months. The island is just beginning to get electricity almost three months after the storm, and there is still only daytime, resident-only access. Besides assisting another community in need, officers learned some valuable lessons regarding post-strike hurricane operations. We are compiling this information, and it will be presented to City emergency management personnel soon. As you know, we have extensive experience with hurricane operations, but no experience with post-strike operations (thank goodness).
We have four officers in training, and we had one officer resign while in training this month. Currently we have one sworn-officer vacancy.
The department partnered with San Pablo Elementary again this year for the “Stuff the Stocking” event for disadvantaged local children. Once again it was a big success ...
We finally received all of our marked SUVs from the supplemental order in addition to this year’s regular order. This is the most vehicles we have purchased at one time since I began my employment here, and the purchase has modernized our fleet. We took this rare opportunity to assemble all of the vehicles and photographed and video-recorded them together for future use on social media and City publications...
The CPAAA presented employees with challenge coins as a Christmas gift. We are so appreciative of our volunteers and CPAA ...
