Sunday March 5th, JBPD SIU assisted JSO with investigating gang related activity at a short term rental located at 1120 8th Street North in Jacksonville Beach. JBPD utilized their drone unit to clear the house due to the amount of guns and wanted fugitives that were discovered after the officers knocked on the door to have a conversation to the persons staying at the residence. Officers found
41 people in a 1400 square foot home.
14 guns were seized from the residence.More than five persons were arrested on guns, drugs and warrant related charges. Of the arrested were gang members and associates.
From JSO:
"On Sunday, March 5, 2023, The Community Problem Response Unit was deployed in Duval County, under the violence reduction strategy. Detectives within the unit were monitoring activity at an Air BNB located in the City of Jacksonville Beach, Florida after receiving information that individuals who were tied to a known criminal gang were present, coupled with the information that the Jacksonville Beach Police Department had received several calls for service regarding individuals at the residence possessing narcotics and multiple firearms.
While conducting surveillance in the area, detectives observed several individuals walking around the outside of the residence while armed with assault style rifles. The individuals were seen entering and exiting the residence from both the front and back yards, as well as walking to and from vehicles located in the driveway. At least one known offender was seen at the residence known to have an active arrest warrant.
With assistance from members of the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, a perimeter was established in the surrounding area and members of Jax Beach P.D. knocked on the front door of the residence due to the calls for service. As officers made contact at the front of the residence, at least two subjects were observed running from the residence through the backyard and throwing firearms over a fence. Two assault style rifles were later located in outside areas adjacent to the residence.
Five individuals initially exited the residence, and more than 40 more would come out a short time later. Numerous arrests were made for charges stemming from drugs located in and around the residence as well as for prior warrants. A search warrant for the residence was also obtained and was executed. The result of the search warrant yielded the following items:
- Taurus G2C firearm
- Glock 26 firearm (2)
- Glock 19X firearm
- Mini Draco firearm (2)
- Glock 21 firearm
- Polymer 80 firearm
- Smith & Wesson M&P Shield firearm
- Glock 21 firearm with extended magazine
- Glock 17 firearm (2)
- Draco ROA22 firearm
- Glock 30 firearm
- Marijuana (bulk and packaged for sale)
We would like to thank the Jacksonville Beach Police Department for their assistance in this incident – and helping get 14 guns off the street. And to those who saw something, and said something."
