The two bills SB 1380 and HB 1331 will take away local control of municipal utilities and may drive up costs related to Public Service Commission regulation. Additionally, this bill limits the ability of the municipal utility from earning a pay back on its investment and hurts local municipalities by restricting utility transfers used for police, parks and recreation, etc. Many see this as terribly written bills written by legislators who do not serve districts with municipal utilities within them.
