From Capt. Dave:
The river is getting better each week. It was rough there for awhile after all that rain May 2-7. Just goes to show ya how fragile the river is. And all the while YOUR city doesn't give a crap about it. Navy and shipping that's it.
Oh and BTW.....the JSO has the big nice building with 1/2 million dollar boats sitting on lifts along with FWC's boats. And all the while next door at the Lions Club boat ramp there isn't even a Port-a-let to use. The rest rooms are shut down. That's a joke!
I'm thinking about becoming a regular writer to the Editor of the Times Union, and point out such things that could make this area more enticing. I just wish "that river" was more of a concern to Jacksonville.
You know what deeper and more dredging will mean? Less resource and just more current.

6/3 - What a day! Finally....this is what I have been waiting for. An all out TROUT slaughter. We got on the tail-end of it, Friday with Traveller Bob in my last report. But today we were On It. And Stayed On It! Fished one area all day. Just made slight adjustments to stay on the spot better as the tide changed. Four guys, and myself of course. LIMITS for all! Plus, we threw back some small ones, and kept a 1/2 dozen Yellowmouth Trout, Two Mangrove Snappers, had 4 Jacks, and a 17" Redfish. Float-rig fished live shrimp. Had two guys in the back of the boat doing that, while two were on the bow casting 1/4 ounce jigs and Matrix Shads, on light spinner rods. JUST LIKE LAST YEAR, AFTER BERYL AND DEBBY.....(the two tropical storms that hit us in early summer) IT ALSO TOOK NO LESS THAN 4 MISERABLE WEEKS FOR THE WATER TO GET BACK RIGHT. Well, same here. We've been picking and poking around. And even had completely dead "couldn't find any good bite going on days" since the big rains of the first week of May. So, hopefully. All that is behind us, for a good long while. I'll be basking in a Trout bite that makes for some seriously happy customers. LIMITS, from 17 inchers, to 5 pounders! If I could log-in.....I'd post photos too. But I don't have time. And forgot what email and password I used. Photo/Report Link: www.blockurl99.blogspot.com/2013/06/63-what-day.html

7/28 - Need I say more?Had Walker and his wife Sarah aboard the Jettywolf on Sunday. As it turned out. Sarah had no fishing experience at all. She didn't know how to cast a spinning reel, didn't know how to hold the rod.....Nothing!But, she was a quick study. And what happened? Yep, you guessed it. Sarah out-fished her Husband!!!!!~ We ended up with a big box of Trout, and one Flounder. Trout to 24". Of course, I helped out. But not wanting to catch. But just showing what and how to fish each spot. Be it using a Matrix Shad, a Kick-A-Mullet, or a float-rig and live shrimp. I told Walker, what might happen. He said, "I'm Okay with that. Happy Wife-Happy Life." seeing they were Newlyweds and all. And I was right, when I told him the day before that his wife may out fish him. It was a fun day. Sarah also caught Jacks, hooked a few Ladyfish and caught one Bluefish and a Flounder.
What a day! Get your gal out there.Visit: www.captdaves.com for info. Look at these crazy shrimp I had. They had blaze orange horns. Ready for Mardi Gras!!Party On Litl' Shrimp!(904) 642-9546 8am-8pm eastern time
