From the city of Jacksonville Beach:
"The City of Jacksonville Beach recently experienced a cybersecurity event that impacted the operability of certain information systems. Upon discovery, we promptly notified federal law enforcement and initiated an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity and forensic specialists. The investigation determined that the incident was the result of a sophisticated cyberattack conducted by a criminal organization. While our investigation is ongoing, we understand that, as part of the attack, the criminal organization took information from certain systems. We also are aware that the name of the City was posted on a website, naming the City as a victim of one of their attacks.
The City takes this event and the security of information in our care very seriously, and we are working to determine the full extent of the event. In the coming days, the City will mail notifications to those individuals whose data is determined to be impacted by this event. Out of an abundance of caution, the City will also provide impacted individuals with credit monitoring resources.
The investigation remains ongoing and our teams are working diligently to restore systems and services as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to investigate and address this event."
