The beaches Food Critic and will be coming to your restaurant sooner or later so make sure you serve me your best. There are many good restaurants in our area so I'll be busy for some time. Follow me, a third generation beach resident if you want the true skinny on what is good and what is not. Turn offs: Cold butter pats, import fish, asking for tips, not bringing me my change( I decide the TIP!), leaving dishes on my table when I'm done, cell phone talker's in restaurants...TAKE IT OUTSIDE!, Cocky bartenders that act like they are celebrities and ignore patrons that don't show T&A, Napkins instead of real coasters, etc. Turn Ons: Thai or any spicy food, attentive smiling wait staff, cool restaurants, booths, Fresh LOCAL seafood, Southern cooking, Sushi, etc.
I rate by "Starfish". 1=meh thru 5=Excellent.

Maple Street Biscuit CompanyJacksonville Beach 2/3/2015 Sausage Bisquit to goPopped into Maple Street to grab a quick late breakfast. Parking was easy and a good crowd was there but I was able to order quick and get my to go biscuit very fast. My sausage biscuit can in a styro foam box, which was in a big brown bag stapled shut. I took the styro container out grabbed a napkin which was also in the bag with utensil set up. left the bag and utensils on the counter for someone else, I hate to waste stuff. Anyway on to the job site I munched on my sausage biscuit, which after all the hype I thought was rather small. The sausage appeared to be straight off the Sysco truck, I thought it would be fresh "homemade" sausage not a frozen patty. The meal was tasty but not much better that the 99 cent Micky D. sausage biscuit. I'm still not totally impressed with Maple Streets food, However I will try it again to see what I can discover. 7/14/2014 Grabbed a to go order Got to say the crew transformed the old place into a modern open and inviting place. I grabbed 3 biscuits to go. One bacon/egg/cheese and 2 sausage gravy biscuits all for $17 out the door and quick. The flavors and preparation was very good. However I personally thought the biscuits were small. I met the owner and he seem as excited to be at the beach as most of us locals are to be here. I'll be back to try a lunch biscuit! ~Chuck McCue (No Pics this visit)
