Q?What does a child do after they attain their Green Belt?
A.There is typically a transition between the Green belt and the adult class. If the child is 14 and mature, and they attain the Green Belt, we will allow them to train in the adult class as a “Junior Adult”.
If they are not quite at that age, they will receive stripes on their Green Belt, up to 4 stripes. At 16, they can test for their Adult Blue Belt, and train in the adult classes.
If the child is not of age to train with the adults, they too will receive up to 4 stripes on their Green Belt, and then are promoted to Gray Belt., they will wear the Grey Belt, receiving up to 4 stripes until they are 16 and can test for the adult Blue Belt.
Q?How long does it take for a child to become a Kid-Jitsu Green Belt
A.The Green belt in Kid-Jitsu is the highest level belt. The entire ten belt system takes 4-5 years. This is assuming training 2 times per week.

Q?How long does it take an adult to attain a BJJ Black Belt?
A. training will be in 4 levels:
White to Blue Belt*****: approx. 1 year to 18 mos.
Blue to Purple Belt: another 2-3 years
Purple to Brown Belt: another 2 years
Brown to Black Belt: another 2 years
These times are all approximations and I’m factoring in training at least 2-3 times per week. So it’s safe to say to reach a black belt is now 7-10+ years. If you train less, it will obviously take longer. Bottom line is that BJJ is not easy, it takes time, and when you receive a belt, you can defend the belt in a crisis situation.
*****At blue belt proficiency, I will safely say you will be able to handle yourself in most ‘street fight’ situations with no problem. (Unless the other guy is a Jiu-Jitsu guy too! lol)
Q?What are the age ranges for Kid-Jitsu?
A. children as young as four years old. The upper end is around 14-15 depending on the size and maturity of the child; at this time they would begin to work into the adult classes.
Q?What is the difference between karate and Jiu-Jitsu?
A.Karate is a striking sport with various kicks and punches. Jiu-Jitsu is not a striking sport, but a self-defense system that allows one to utilize position, leverage and technique to subdue an attacker. The best way to explain this, for parents bringing their children; in Jiu-Jitsu when a bully bothers your child we teach him/her to defend himself/herself, by attaining a positive position without being overly aggressive. We only take the situation as far as we need to, to neutralize the situation and gain dominant control.
